Family Mediation Fees — $250/Hour Total

What's Billed

• Minimum: two hours per session for private matters, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• After the minimum: billed in 15-minute increments.
• Time outside the session: preparation, document review, and writing up the summary of agreed terms are billed at the same rate.
• No charge: the initial conflict-check and scheduling call.

When Payment Is Due

The two-hour minimum is due 2 business days before the session; any balance is due at the end of the session. Each party is responsible for their own share. Payment is by credit or debit card (processed through Stripe), PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

A session can be canceled or rescheduled without charge with at least 2 business days' notice. Later cancellations, or not attending, are charged the two-hour minimum, payable by the party who canceled or didn't attend. The mediator may waive this charge for genuine emergencies.

Fees Don't Depend on the Outcome

Fees are for the mediator's time and are owed whether or not the parties reach an agreement. There are no contingency fees, and nothing about the rate changes based on what the parties decide.

How Fees Are Divided

Fees are commonly split equally. The parties can agree to a different split — for example, in proportion to income — and any court order that allocates fees controls. The agreed split is written into the agreement to mediate before the session.

Discounts

Discounted rates may be offered for selected matters. Any discount is confirmed in writing before the mediation and does not depend on whether the case settles.

Everything in Writing

Rates, fee division, minimums, and cancellation terms are set out in the written agreement to mediate that both parties receive before the session. If anything on this page differs from that agreement, the agreement controls.
